Game of Thrones Season 6 Episode 9 “ The Battle of The Bastards” Preview

It's the battle viewers have been waiting for and Game of Thrones Season 6 Jon Snow will take on notoriously hated Ramsay Bolton in the ninth episode of the new series. Coming face to face for the first time in the 'Battle of the Bastards', Ramsay is seen with that creepy smile in place as he stares his opponent down.

And Jon sparks worry among fans early on, as he tells Melisandre ahead of the fight: "If I fall, don't bring me back." The battle for Winterfell between House Stark and House Bolton has been brewing for weeks, as Jon desperately attempts to gather enough troops.

It's unclear how some of the major characters of the show will fare, but a bloodied Ser Davos is seen looking shocked and wounded in the new footage. Jon may have the smaller army, but it's likely Littlefinger will bring the Knights of the Vale, while the Tullys are also expected.

Meanwhile, the last episode - which aired last night - saw Arya on the run and The Hound return. At the end of last week's episode we saw her stumbling through the streets after getting stabbed in the stomach by The Waif and then barely getting away.

And this week we find her hiding in the dressing room of Lady Crane - the actress she saved the life of a couple of weeks ago. By fortunate happenstance, Crane is a dab hand at patching up stab wounds and soon has Arya on the mend.

Arya explains her plan to quit Essos, and head overseas. "What's west of Westeros?" She wants to go find out. Alas, quitting Assassin School isn't that easy, and soon the Waif shows up to finish the job she started last week.

After butchering Lady Crane, she takes off after Arya who has jumped out of a window. The little Stark is doing some pretty vigorous exercise for someone who must have quite a few stitches in her abdomen. But The Waif chase her down like something from The Terminator, and before long Arya is bleeding heavily again. The chase ends up in the darkened room where Arya has been hiding out, and she manages to pick up old sword Needle as her nemesis closes in.

We don't get to see the fight but she seems to have won pretty decisively. Next thing we know, she's back in the hall of faces pointing her sword at Jaqen H'ghar, and the Waif's bloody face is up on the wall. "Finally a girl is no one", he tells her. But she's given up on her assassin dreams now. She's Arya Stark, she tells him, and she's going home. Maybe she'll get back in time to take Ramsay Bolton's face off during the big battle next week.
