With Jon Snow turning his attention toward Winterfell, it's up to another member of House Stark to face the White Walker threat … and it looks like Bran Stark is the Northerner for the job. Game of thrones season 6 really kick it up high in that reunion episode.
Whether or not that confrontation is real or imagined remains to be seen; after all, Bran's entire story on Game of Thrones right now revolves around his ability to trip down the green-seeing rabbit hole to view important events in Westeros history. Is he viewing the White Walkers from his dreamlike state, then? Perhaps, but even so, the Night's King and his minions are finally set to arrive in season six with this week's episode, "The Door," based on the trailer released.
"Did You Know?" Petyr Baelish just returned to Thrones in episode four, rallying the Knights of the Vale to march against Winterfell. Already, he's in the North by the time episode five arrives, based on the first scene in the preview and when he shows up, he's in for an awkward confrontation with Sansa and Brienne, justifiably angry over the marriage arrangement with Ramsay Bolton. Littlefinger can typically talk his way out of anything… but talk is cheap in the North.
Gray Matters. Arya Stark continues her training at the House of Black and White in this episode, and the preview suggests some new direction in her work as a nameless assassin. Jaqen H'ghar brings Arya back into the Hall of Faces and puts forth a question: "Does death only come for the wicked, and leave the decent behind?" Six seasons of Thrones makes the answer quite clear at this point; despite the name of the house, death doesn't deal in black and white, but in gray and, of course, in red.
The Kingsmoot. Who will rule the Iron Islands? With Lord Balon dead, it's time for a new leader to emerge. The process looks to take its next natural turn in this episode, with Yara Greyjoy announcing her intentions to sit upon the Salt Throne. There's no sign that she's taken her brother Theon on as her new campaign manager, nor is there any sign of her likeliest competitor: Euron the man who murdered Yara's father.
The New Red Woman. The Lord of Light's power speaks for itself, between Jon Snow's resurrection and Beric Dondarrion returning from the dead back in season three. But Melisandre isn't the only priestess preaching the good word of R'hllor. Another disciple will emerge in the Meereen story this week, as evidenced by an unfamiliar red woman armed with ominous words for Varys and Tyrion: "Knowledge has made you powerful, but there's still so much you don't know."
Nightmare Fuel. Winter is coming, and for Bran, it's already arrived, at least in his dreams. The young man's magical powers will put him on the path of the Night's King in this episode, as well as a whole horde of undead monsters. It's not a nightmare he can shake easily. Just ask Meera Reed who ends the preview doing her best to wake Bran from the dream … but has he spent too long beneath the beautiful sea?
