The Originals returned with Season 1, Episode 14 (“Long Way Back From Hell”), and if you thought after killing off Sophie the show was going to slow down, you thought wrong. This episode was a bulldozer of emotions from fear to anxiety and yes, even sadness. The Mikaelson family has never been so broken. Sure, Klaus has daggered his sister many times before, but on tonight’s episode, he took things to a whole new level of desperation. He was ready to plunge that dagger into Rebekah’s heart permanently and kill Marcel for her betrayal. It was nothing short of terrifying…… in the best way possible, of course.
But we're guessing Rebekah Mikaelson would have been happy if the installment never aired at all. because her darkest secret finally came out and it looks like it will change the course of her life forever.
Back in 1919, in order to be free from Klaus' rule and free to love one another completely, Rebekah and Marcel conspired with Genevieve to bring back Mikael and do away with Klaus for good.
Only Genevieve wasn't aware of the depths of their plan and when Rebekah feared she would tell Klaus, she killed the witchy friend she had used for her spell. Fast forward nearly a century later and Celeste (who was also killed by Rebekah back in the day, under a different identity) has brought Genevieve back for revenge.
She makes Klaus flashback to those 1919 events and the truth is now officially out there:
Klaus, the serial killing Original whose only fear is being betrayed by those close to him, was betrayed in the worst possible way by his sister. We end the hour with Klaus looking to kill Rebekah, but Elijah stepping in at the last second with a dagger to his brother's heart.
Things are not looking good for the Mikaelson family. Klaus hunted Katherine Pierce for over 500 years. We can only imagine the kind of hell Klaus is going to raise to find Rebekah that is, if he can get that dagger out of his chest first. Is this what the witches wanted?
In the next episode of the Originals season 1 episode 15 entitled Le Grand Guignol, In a series of flashbacks to 1919, Klaus opens up to Camille and reveals details of the devastating secret Rebekah and Marcel were trying to keep from him. Elijah forms an unlikely alliance with Monique and asks for her help in locating Sabine. Elsewhere, Thierry is reluctant to get involved when Marcel and Rebekah approach him with a plan to take down the witches. Meanwhile, in the bayou, Hayley is at her wits’ end and holds Sabine hostage in an attempt to get information that will reverse the curse on her werewolf clan.
