Game of Thrones Season 7 Its Official

The Season 6 is not yet aired but to all the Game of Thrones fans their is another reason to raise our joy. HBO has made it official: Game of Thrones has been renewed for a seventh season. The network has picked up the Emmy-winning fantasy hit for another year.

As expected, with the renewal of Thrones the network doesn’t answer fans’ biggest burning question about the order: How many episodes? HBO and showrunners David Benioff and Dan Weiss are contemplating a split final two seasons, with seven episodes next year and six in season eight. Not listing the number of episodes isn’t unusual, however. HBO never lists the number of episodes in a season of Thrones when it renews the show. The press assumes there will be 10 episodes like usual and every year there have indeed been 10 episodes. That might change next year.

None of the renewals were a surprise. Thrones is HBO’s biggest hit of all time, while Veep and Silicon have been solid-performing Emmy darlings.

All three shows have their latest season premieres this Sunday. To help promote the trio, HBO is dropping its premium gate this weekend for all cable subscribers to be able to watch the channel.
