The Flash Season 3 With the Season Premiere Flashpoint

If you're a regular reader of my Flash-centric ramblings, you'll know that I wasn't particularly in love with The Flash season two. I found it uneven, and a number of the twists felt contrived, particularly how Earth 2 simply became an excuse to get everyone to essentially be the goatee-wearing mirror universe eeeevil versions of themselves. It got old, and it didn't leave enough room for the kind of smart sci-fi that this show is often capable of.

While everything worked out by the season finale, you might also remember that I was ambivalent about Barry's decision to alter the past and save his mother. In particular, I questioned the wisdom of going to the "Flashpoint" well relatively early in the series' history, and I worried that they were quickly going to dig another hole, with more gimmick-y alternate universe/timeline versions of familiar characters and situations.

Well, after watching The Flash season 3 premiere episode, "Flashpoint," I am pleased to report that my fears weren't just unfounded, they were really frakkin' unfounded. "Flashpoint" is a wonderful return to form for the series, the best episode since the first half of season two, and right up there with some of the best in the show's history.

Here's a quick Flash Fact for you: I never particularly cared for the comic story that this is loosely based on. The comic book version of "Flashpoint" was needlessly dark, and was so interested in showing off a DC Universe gone wild that a lot of the impact of Barry's actual emotional story was lost.

Well, that doesn't happen here. While in the comics, Barry's actions rewrote the whole world with some bizarre and disastrous consequences, here, things are far more subtle, and the focus stays on the people who bring us back week after week. As we've seen in the trailers, Barry's relationships with Iris, Joe, and Cisco have changed dramatically (and yes, Cisco is in a very different place than he is in "our" timeline), none of it is an excuse to go off the rails. Is it possible that I just missed these characters and this world, and that's coloring my perception? Maybe. But it says so much about this cast and the solid foundations the show has built that they settle so comfortably into these new dynamics and it all feels completely believable and natural.

Flashpoint Fallout in new Teaser of The Flash Season 3

Fans are getting more and more excited with all the teasers that coming out for the upcoming season of the flash. There are a lot of exciting things to looks forward to in The Flash season 3. Barry altering the timeline to go back and save his mother’s life (and his father from jail) gives us a chance to see how things might have looked if Reverse Flash hadn’t succeeded in his plans, but it also will give the core cast a chance to play wildly different versions of themselves (like we saw with the Earth-2 storylines last season, which were some of the year’s best). But while Barry is always ready to embrace the positives in situations like this (including his appreciation of there being another Flash Kid Flash! “Don’t call me that”), it’s clear from this new, extended trailer that he’s going to have to make a very, very difficult choice.

The series’ cast and creators have told us that Flashpoint won’t last all season, but its repercussions will be felt throughout. In this trailer below, we’re starting to get a sense of how, as Barry starts to forget who he is because he is because he’s living as the same person in two timelines. What that means for other characters, though, remains to be seen.

A new teaser is released check out below:

The Flash Season 3 Poster is Out Its all About to be Red

The first official introduction CW’s The Flash season 3 makes quite a statement, especially if you happen to be a bullfighter. As you’ll see in the season’s newly released poster below, The Flash has taken his love for the color red to the extreme. Grant Gustin, in costume as the title speedster, is almost lost within the flood of crimson light that saturates the poster, with only his bright yellow lightning bolt symbol standing out against the backdrop. The Flash season 3 poster teases new destinies, new dangers.

Titled “Flashpoint,” the season three premiere is described below.

“Barry is living his dream life his parents are alive, he’s asked Iris West on a date and he can finally be a normal guy as Central City has another speedster, Kid Flash, running around saving the city. When Barry starts forgetting parts of his old life, the Reverse Flash (guest star Matt Letscher) taunts his nemesis and tells him that there will be serious repercussions for Barry and the ones he loves if he continues to live in this alternate universe. In addition to losing his memories, his powers will also start to fade. When disaster strikes, Barry must decide if he wants to continue to live in this world as Barry Allen or return to his universe as The Flash.

he Flash returns to The CW on Tuesday, October 4th at 8pm. Gustin will return in the title role alongside Candice Patton, Danielle Panabaker, Carlos Valdez, Tom Cavanagh, Jesse L. Martin, and Keiynan Lonsdale, with John Wesley Shipp, Michelle Harrison, and Matt Letscher returning as well. This season premiere will also see newcomers Tom Felton, Todd Lasance, and the voice of Tobin Bell, just to name a few.

The Flash Season 3 Joey King Teases us Magenta

Their are so many faces that are coming in the upcoming The Flash Season 3 both heroes and villains alike. After the Flashpoint story arc comes to an end this season, there will be plenty of episodes left for Barry Allen to face off against his Rogues. The show has generally introduced at least one new villain or dangerous metahuman for each episode. This season, the two big bads have already been revealed as Dr. Alchemy and Savitar, but Central City will be seeing more threats including, a new female version of Top, Mirror Master, Black Flash, Gorilla Grodd, and Magenta.

In the comics, Magenta is a member of the classic Rogues, but also plays the role of Wally West/Kid Flash’s love interest. Details on her live-action debut have yet to be known, but it’s possible that she may have a recurring role as Wally’s girlfriend as opposed to being a Flash villain. Joey King is playing the role and has now taken to Twitter to share a first look at her purplelicious character.

Based on the photo, Joey King certainly pulls off Magenta’s younger look very well. Frances Kane (Magenta) met Wally West when he was just seven years old and they grew up together as friends. When she reached adulthood, she started to exhibit strange magnetic powers. Wally did his best to teach her how to use her superpowers properly. After Wally West took on the mantle of The Flash, the two were a power couple for quite a while – until she left him.

After their break-up in the world of DC Comics, Magenta returned to Central City with a vengeance, stronger powers, and an evil personality with the sole purpose of getting Wally’s attention. The good memories she had with Wally were twisted, creating quite a battle at a local baseball game. One again, she left for a while only to return nastier than ever.

It’s going to be interesting to see if Magenta plays a hero, a villain or maybe both on The Flash TV show since, as mentioned, she switches back and forth between those extremes in the comics. Although Wally West will be a bit younger than usual in The Flash season 3, Joey King is quite young too. So, it’s possible we may yet see the nice girlfriend version of Magenta instead of the magnetized supervillain. Either way, King is a welcomed addition to the ever-growing cast of The Flash.

The Flash Season 3 Casting Mirror Master, The Top & Thorn?

These days you can’t throw a stick without hitting a superhero, but no matter how many do-gooders flood the big and small screens, good villains are always hard to find. For the minds behind The CW’s take on The Flash, that problem’s being solved by making their hero the real problem in the show’s third season by revealing that it’s his selfish re-writing of history that’s posing one of the biggest threats of the so-called ‘Flashpoint’ timeline. But it won’t be the only threat he faces.

Thanks to some insider information, we may now know the names and descriptions of the latest batch of new cast members. It’s not yet official, but from these breakdowns it sounds like comic book fans will soon get not one, but two classic members of the speedster’s Rogues Gallery: Mirror Master and Top. Not only that, but Barry and Wally may have another meta human antihero to deal with in the split-personality Rose and Thorn.

The details come courtesy of The Hashtag Show, who managed to get their hands on casting breakdowns for the three characters (along with the same for Caitlin Snow’s mother, a role since given to Susan Walters). With three of the DC Comics hero’s most well-known Rogues having already shown up in the show Weather Wizard, Captain Cold and Heat Wave the fan demand for Mirror Master a.k.a. Sam Scudder has only been growing. But assuming that plenty of fans of the TV series will want to get the details and some context, we’re breaking each of the roles being cast and their almost-certain comic book counterparts starting with the reflecting Rogue himself.

The Flash Season 3 Star Grant Gustin Teases Back to the Future Moment

We already know things are going to be very different for Barry Allen in The Flash Season 3, and just like in the Back to the Future series (a staple for the executive producers of the show), not only will Barry find himself in a strange world but he might start to forget about the one before.

“Barry’s the only one that knows the timeline is different,” Grant Gustin said in the latest episode of DC All Access. “His memories are starting to get replaced from the previous timeline with new memories of graduating high school and graduating college, just moments with his family, and when he realizes that those memories are replacing other memories, that’s when he starts to realize how selfish of a decision this was and maybe he should find a way to put things back to how they were… In the same sense that he’s forgetting a lot of memories, it means he’s forgetting his powers too. It’s like he’s having a full Back to the Future moment where essentially his hand is disappearing in front of him.”

The Flash also stars Candice Patton as Iris West, Danielle Panabaker as Caitlin Snow, Carlos Valdes as Cisco Ramo, Tom Cavanagh as Dr. Harrison Wells and Jesse L. Martin as Detective Joe West. Season 2 of the series also introduced Keiynan Lonsdale as Wally West and the Earth-2 version of The Flash as played by John Wesley Shipp (who also played Barry’s father, Henry Allen). The Flash Season 3 premiere is already set to debut on The CW on Tuesday, October 4 at 8 PM ET.

The Flash Season 3: Barry Allen will Forget His Powers

When The Flash season 3 returns, the events of Flashpoint will change everything we know about the Scarlet Speedster. In the finale of season 2, Barry Allen made the decision to travel back in time to save his mother from certain death, changing the entire timeline as we know it. Even though series star Grant Gustin already told us that the Flashpoint story arc won’t take up the entire season, we can expect a huge fallout with permanent ramifications, even bleeding over into the rest of the Flarrowverse.

The Comic-Con 2016 trailer offered a few glimpses of what’s to come on The Flash season 3: Wally West will become Kid Flash, Cisco Ramon is “the richest man in America,” and Barry Allen is a complete stranger to both his adopted father Joe and his best friend Iris West. Barry also seems to be having some serious memory problems in this new alternate universe that he created. But, at least his parents are still alive, right?

In the most recent episode of DC All Access, Grant Gustin explains that his memories aren’t the only thing Barry is having trouble with, but that he will also forget his speedster powers:

“In the same sense that he’s forgetting a lot of memories, it means he’s forgetting his powers too. It’s like he’s having a full ‘Back to the Future’ moment, where essentially his hand is disappearing in front of him.”

Flash Season 3 New Characters, Timeline and Powers

Over two seasons, CW's Flash has become the network's flagship show for its DC TV Universe. As Flash moves into its third season, everything is about to change. At the end of season two, Barry Allen went back in time and rescued his mother from death, altering history and creating an alternate timeline that will be explored in the new season, kicking off with an episode titled, appropriately, "Flashpoint." Along with the alternate timeline, the show's core relationships will be switched up, showcasing different aspects of each characters' personality, starting with Barry himself.

In the new timeline, Barry is the only one who remembers the old world, though that may change over the course of the season. "Barry starts to forget things about his old life as time goes by," Flash actor Grant Gustin told Newsarama at Comic-Con International: San Diego. Unsurprisingly, Gustin was unable to go too in detail about what the new season has in store, but he said that in the new world, Barry was raised by his parents, not Joe West, and as such his relationship with Joe and Iris is very different.

However, there's still hope for fans of Barry and Iris's relationship. "I think Barry and Iris will always find each other," said Iris West actor Candice Patton. Meanwhile, Jesse L. Martin, who plays her father Joe West, said that Flash season 3 finds a version of Joe that is decidedly different from his Earth One counterpart, saying he's got less of a moral center.

As for Joe's other child, Wally West, fans already know that Wally will become Kid Flash in Flash season three, and Martin says the fact that both of his sons - Wally, his biological son, and Barry, his adoptive son - are superheroes hasn't escaped him. He confessed that he'd like to have a costume and powers of his own on the show, saying he'd like to be able to "transmute matter." After being informed that there is actually a Flash villain with that power, Dr. Alchemy, Martin made it clear that he was simply spitballing, but did say that he "no longer trusts" that Joe West will never go Metahuman.

Likewise, Carlos Valdes, who plays Cisco, stopped short of saying he'd go full on hero in season three, dancing around the idea of getting a costume or giving himself one of his famous nicknames, but did say he believes "fans will be happy to see Cisco fulfill his destiny."

There are still other mysteries afoot in Flash season three, such as the character played by new castmember Tom Felton, who confessed that even he doesn't know his character's secret.

"It's like taking a job because someone says 'This job is going to be even more awesome later on,' but they can't tell you why." What Felton could confirm is that his character is one of Barry's fellow forensic scientist, but that he's "a little faster than Barry" with certain parts of the job - something that he lords over Barry. Rest assured however that even though Felton couldn't explain his character's secret, there will be some kind of twist.

Speaking of twists, Harrison Wells actor Tom Cavanagh said that his character would indeed be back, though he couldn't say exactly how it would work. Flash seasons one and two showed different versions of Wells - one a villain, and the other more a hero of sorts so the Flashpoint timeline could take him just about anywhere.

Flash season 3 premieres October 4 on CW.

The Flash Update: Grant Gustin Confirms About Flashpoint in Season 3

Someone at The CW is actually letting The Flash star Grant Gustin talk about the upcoming Flashpoint plotline that we have so many questions about, and we are grateful. Recently, we learned more details about Flashpoint that will show us a very different world where the characters we know and love have been fundamentally changed by Barry’s decision to save his parents. But one of the biggest questions is … how long is the timeline change going to last? Forever?

In an interview with Kevin Smith for IMDb at Comic Con, Gustin revealed that,

“I think we can state Flashpoint does not last all season long. But there are permanent ramifications.”

One of the things that The Flash does so well is that it does make sure that there are ramifications for time traveling. When changes are made to the timeline, it matters. And sometimes, it brings about things like Time Wraiths. But after what felt like a lackluster conclusion to the Zoom storyline in Season 2, it’s exciting to think that this timeline change is going to infuse the series with a host of new problems that will reverberate even after the series exits the Flashpoint arc.

The interview also touched upon the decision-making process for Barry when he decided to go back and save his parents’ lives in the first place, especially after Iris just told him that she loved him. Gustin explained,

“I think that sitting on that porch, having just defeated Zoom, Iris says to Barry what he’s always wanted to hear, and he feels empty inside… As selfish as it was that Barry wanted his parents, I think it’s more about ‘these two speedsters took away their life because of me, and they deserve to have a chance at life. I can’t do this, I need to give them that chance.’”

And yet, knowing that Flashpoint doesn’t last all season means, most likely, that Barry will have to lose his parents all over again to put things back the way they were. But is it fair to make Barry go through all of that pain again? Will the glowing, chill light of the Speed Force guide him again? And what will be so bad or different in the new timeline that he knows he has to undo all of this to return to that other world?

We’ll find out soon, but not soon enough The Flash season 3 returns to The CW on Tuesday, October 4th.

The Flash Season 3 Trailer Finally Released

Don't worry, The Flash Season 3 is happening. The CW officially confirmed The Flash Season 3 back in March, along with renewals of just about every other show on its roster. And now, the first look at The Flash Season 3, and its reality warping "Flashpoint" story has arrived. Check it out!

Who's that new evil speedster? There's a definite resemblance to the New 52 version of the Black Racer, but that's not a terribly likely scenario here. But here's a look at him anyway...

The Flash Season 3 Kid Flash Details

Keiynan Lonsdale will finally put on the Kid Flash costume, at least for The Flash season 3 premiere. But here's the thing, if Wally is Kid Flash in the premiere, which is titled "Flashpoint" and presumably takes place in an altered timeline, what does this mean for Wally's future as Kid Flash? There were indications at the end of season two that the pieces were in place for his speed powers to manifest, but they hadn't yet. The Flash Season 3 will premiere on Tuesday, October 4th at 8 pm. And what's that first episode called? Well, just as expected, it's "Flashpoint."

The Flash Spoilers: Season 3 Villian Teased and Kid Flash is Confirmed

The Flash season 2 ended with Zoom defeated and Barry Allen aka the Flash going back in time to save his mother. His actions are speculated to alter the present how events came to pass and the first indications of this include the confirmation that Wally West is now going to be Kid Flash.

According to a report the premiere episode of the flash season 3 is going to be titled "Flashpoint" and this is an obvious reference to a famous comic book storyline in which the Flash saves his mother in the past but when he returns to the present everything had changed and he no longer had his powers, forcing him to figure out a way to bring things back to normal.

he report continues to state that with Barry altering the flow of events through history this may have allowed Wally West to become the Flash instead. However, Barry will still be aware of the different timeline and how things changed and this may prompt him to try and change reality one more time.

Kid Flash is not the only confirmed alteration to the timeline. A report from Comic Book Movie reveals that the new villain has been shown in leaked photos of the set, showcasing a speedster clad in a black costume. According to the report it is highly speculated that this speedster is the Black Racer.

The Black Racer, in the DC comic books, is often viewed as an embodiment of death and goes after speedsters who have cheated death one too many times. It is possible this villain is out looking for Barry Allen for cheating death several times and for altering history several times as well.

Some fans are disappointed, however, given that the villain for season 3 is yet another speedster. The Flash season 3 is set to premiere this Oct. 4 on the CW.

The Flash Spoilers: Season 3 and a new Mystery Speedster

If anything is certain, it’s that The Flash season 3 will be fit to bursting with speedsters! With the recent reveal of Keiynan Lonsdale’s Kid Flash costume, fans are champing at the bit for more information on a season which promises the “Flashpoint” storyline among other things. But before you could even slap on your red tights to run around Central City, a brand new speedster has been revealed.

The latest speedster’s identity has yet to be revealed, though the actor behind the mask is seemingly Todd Lasance from the Vampire Diaries and Spartacus. However, The CW has yet to make either the identity of the speedster known or confirmed that Mr. Lasance has joined the cast. As for the costume itself, it’s somewhat reminiscent of last season’s big bad, Zoom, with the black color and highlights, though it obviously is missing the more terrifying facial features of that suit. Considering what happened to Zoom last season, it’s doubtful that this is a return of Hunter Zolomon.

Here’s a look at the set photos that unofficially revealed the new character:

The most likely candidate for the character is Daniel West, the third man to take up the mantle of the Reverse Flash following Eobard Thawne and Hunter Zolomon. Daniel West was a creation of the rebooted DC Comics Universe, dubbed the New 52, several years ago. West presented a villain with close ties to Barry Allen as Daniel was related to the love of his life, Iris West. When Danny found himself with super speed one day, he used it in an attempt to go back in time and end his abusive father’s life. Barry was there to stop him, of course, and Daniel eventually ended up as an unwilling member of the Suicide Squad, if you can believe it, adding serious power to the group of anti-heroes.

At the end of Season 2, Barry went back in time to save his mother’s life, seemingly changing the present astronomically in the process. When Season 3 begins, things will most likely be extremely different from what we’ve known before. Aside from this new speedster, the season also sees the addition of Tom Felton of Harry Potter fame in an unknown role. All questions will eventually be revealed when Flash season 3 returns to The CW on Tuesday, October 4th.

The Flash Spoilers: First Look At Keiynan Lonsdale As Kid Flash In Season 3

The Aussie actor made his debut as Wally West in Season 2, however this is the first time we've seen him in costume. While Wally's never had any superpowers on the show, his abilities and new persona might have something to do with Barry's manipulation of time in The Flash's Season 2 finale.

Kid Flash will first appear in The Flash Season 3 premiere episode Flashpoint coming to the CW Tuesday, October 4 at 8pm ET. Harry Potter star Tom Felton was recently added to the cast as a series regular.

The Flash Season 3 Tom Felton to be a Series Regular

Are you excited? Don’t The Flash season 3 is happening just a few months to go and a lot of new characters will joining the casts including Tom Felton as series regular. Felton will play Julian Dorn, “a fellow CSI at the Central City Police Department who suspects there’s more to Barry Allen than just his good guy reputation.” Apparently, Dorn himself has some secrets as well that we’ll learn about as the season progresses.

Dorn as "Barry’s slightly older, slightly geekier contemporary, a guy who is as smart as he is intuitive." He "doesn't buy Barry's nice guy routine" and starts doing some investigating "all while concealing some secrets of his own. I'm still hoping that "Julian Dorn" is an alias for "Ralph Dibny" because that would be amazing

The Flash Season 3 will premiere on Tuesday, October 4th at 8 pm. And what's that first episode called? Well, just as expected, it's "Flashpoint."
